A Single Mom I Know

I know this young girl and she's a single mom

beautiful, smart, and very strong

when times are hard she lifts her head

and turns her cheek even when harsh words are said

she's been pushed, pulled, and torn

for she's received the rose of sharpest thorns

as words received cutting her so deeply

she struggles to work and expand her life

for she's the mother, the father, the husband, and the wife

but when her babies smile up at her

she realizes all of her worth

and when she's tired and soar

and her strength is no more

she carrys on and she pushes on

as her children bring joy to her song

and when theres no reason to live

with nothing to give

as something is always wrong

two little voices would say I love you mom.
