Strictly speaking, that's called codependence and is indicative of an unhealthy relationship. It sounds nice, but desperation and need are not good foundations of healthy interactions with other human beings. If I said the same thing about heroin, you would instantly notice the unhealthy sentiment: "Oh heroin, I hope that I die before I am unable to obtain you, because I cannot live without you." This wouldn't be the first time love has been compared to drugs. :P
