Good poetry VS bad poetry

How do we see other peoples poetry? How do you determine whether it's good or bad?
How do you know your writing and people are listening?
All though I have been writing for a VERY long time... The statistics are still very new... Anyone have any advice?
I was once told that you can't spill on someones emotions,expressions...hence their own style... but I would love to hear everyone's view on this??

I think most all poetry is good whether it's written with good or bad words. Because poetry is about expressing yourself and even if somebody is doing it in a bad way at least they are doing it and it's better to let it out than to keep it in. As far as bad poetry goes I think bad poetry is when somebody uses poetry to attack another person's character, poetry or whatever else. I've myself written some bad poetry but mostly in defense, because somebody was takin shots at me or I felt like they was. But just like everything else poetry can be used for good or bad, but I'm not a fan of bad poetry.
I feel like bad poetry only exists when it is used to bring someone down or make them feel bad about themselves. There is a world of difference between expressing emotion, and using emotion to attack or criticize other people. And bad poetry only comes from people who use words to detract other people's value and success.
I couldn't agree more there with the both of ya...so right ;)
Thank you for the replies on my inquiries
My first exposure to poetry on this site was on the home page immediately following my original log-in today. There you'll find examples of 'bad' for your consideration...two examples of plagiarism. Why do you think someone would plagiarize? Why would they choose works so easily identifiable? So juvenile? Why would the moderators of the site allow this? Do you think the two-letter error in "the serenity prayer" justifies it as an original work that does not violate theft of ideas? I look forward to your thoughts.
I think the beauty of poetry is that it can move someone either to keep going when they are down, or even slow down when life is going to fast. I myself started writing to ease my pain, then realized some of the things I was writing were helping others ease their pain as well. Well, now I'm not so much in pain and am having to learn new ways of getting creative with my writing. I actually started reading poetry, and not being so self indulged with my own.
I do not agree with bad poetry being considered as an attack. That too is a part of expression it is another form of letting go and expressing the anger in a rhythm of a flow. There are many bad poems that I have come across, but that is only an opinion of ones minds. The ones I choose to be bad poetry is when the poet has written a poem and the reader has forgotten what the poem was even about by the time she reaches the end. A poem does not have to make sense, but it shouldn’t be confusing.
It has been very interesting to see everyone's insight about the subject... Thank you for all the replies on the subject.
~And I too have written a few poems in anger about a person or people in general... Doesn't necessarily mean that they are bad, if you have chosen the right words to describe how your feeling. Again thank you :))
everything that people call poetry is poetry. just because you dont like it doesn't mean that it isnt as good as another. Someone who writes poems that has just started are equal to, lets say, edgar allan poe. He wrote down what came to mind and what he thought sounded good. so did the new poet. dont ever let anyone tell you that you arent good enough to be a poet. you are always good enough to yourself. <3
