Unaltered Soul

Poetry

Closed hard mind, the story’s old
Bitter words, your tongue unfolds
Who you are, still unknown to you
With a façade that’s soft, in public view
You’re lost within that cold hard shell
Held fast and rigid in each detail
Laughing, at what you don’t understand
You sneer and snarl, pulling away your hand

Your love offered conditionally
Your mind and soul, disconnected, not free
You think you have it figured out
But thoughts inconsistant, your mouth still spouts
Loving you is a difficult task
Seems to be a lot to ask
But in the challenge the lesson lies
To love you still
In spite of your disguise

So holding fast to love ill go
Living life within the flow
Who I am is known to me
A child of the universe
With responsibilities
Sad as I am to leave you there
Still climbing your path on the lower stairs
But on your path, stay you must
As I move on in love and trust

Our season now is at its end
Leaving fences behind, I fear won’t mend
But I’ve lingered here a bit too long
Trying so hard, to help you
Sing your song
Shining light in your darkened soul
In hopes of the knowledge,
That you’d take hold
