Poison

You gave me life, and then took it all away. You didn’t kill me in the flesh.
You killed my spirit.
You gave me life then took yours away.
How dare you be so selfish in such a way?
You put a needle in your arm; you might have well stuck it right in my heart.
The devil must have been inside you, for you to be that way.
You chose that life anyway.
Behind those steel bars, you lay.
Where were you when I cried at night?
On the street getting high…
You wrote us from the inside, while we were here on the outside.
You wrote letters of endearment from your heart behind those steel bars, hoping for forgiveness
Yet again it was too late.
You put poison in your veins, and poisoned our very ways.
It was the devil who gave you that disease.
Ask God for forgiveness on your knees.
Oh, dear lord forgive me please!
Now your ashes fly in the wind, because one of them did take you away.
