An Unexamined Truth

A truth untold burns inside of her,
their eyes lock and passion explodes into flames,
the passion flares but he reminds blind,
Time is motionless in the presence of him,
each word is weighted upon her lips,
calculated to earn his desire,
In his shadow is where she presides,
looming behind him she falls back,
yet he is blind and the distance increases between them,
Her footsteps hasten but he is hidden from her view,
scanning the road until the beams of light fall silent,
the realization of his absence dawns on her,
The moon reflects her hollowed state,
fire extinguished, she staggers back towards her shack of murdered dreams,
emptied of hope, she too, becomes blind to her dwindled passion.
