the best tip I can give for writing poetry is read alot of it, there is a dangerous line between poetry and prose, but in a lot of aspects they are very similar, if you want to be good at any discipline, you have to study it and poetry is a discipline, no matter what some people say. Though Nick is right, writing poetry is easy, writing good poetry is the most difficult thing in the world.

i agree with Leonnie. and to add onto that, use the world to your advantage. any experiences you get from the world could be used to help you write. Well you could write poetry using anything you want. You could also use other peoples' experiences through life but seen through your eyes. It might help you out a lot more.

Write about experiences, what you know best, it just depends on what kinda poetry you want to write also fantasy type poetry is good, use your imagination and use really good words in the place of the not so good words. It feels good to be back on here.
