Poems and Quotes by slmagoon

I just wanted You, Lord.

I JUST WANTED YOU, LORD

I just wanted God the Father
And the Lord Jesus Christ
And the Holy Spirit to fill me.

I sought the kingdom of God
And His righteousness -

God is my home

Never have I felt at home
Except living in God's presence
Here on the earth today.

Years of wandering
In a bleak, dark wilderness
Made me appreciate Him more.

Yes, heaven is a while to go

In the world but not of it

Those born of the human race
Have a very human face
And live a very human life
With a fair amount of strife.

Those "born again" are still that race
Have still that form and still that face -

When God Said No

"No," said the Lord, on the day of her birth
When the skies were all dark and the devil a-prowl.
"This one shall not perish, for she is Mine."

"No," said the Lord when her nose bled hard

God Is Faithful

God is faithful.
He sees us through the best and the worst,
And all the ups and downs and in-betweens,
If we can only hang onto Him.

I've never known anyone who would never leave me

He Gave me Poetry

Life was a struggle from the first -
Didn't want to be born.
But God said This one shall not perish,
And This one shall be Mine.

I wrote of love and pain and grief
In poetry alone -

Born For Battle

Wide-eyed warrior child
Born for battle,
There is nothing around you
That escapes your gaze.

The battle keeps raging
Day after day,
While your weapons to fight it
Are taken away.

Sonnet: He Who Keeps You

You shall go under
Again and again.
Yes, you shall wonder
At sorrow and pain,
And lightning and thunder
And torrents of rain;
But still I shall hold you
And make you alive

Can You?

Can you see the light in all its brightness
But never see the darkness in all its gloom?

Can you see angels flying between earth and heaven
But never see any of the dark ones who fell?

Transport

Take me again
where words are not mere symbols
but living things that zip and zap
and melt and soak and swirl -
where fire is not mere fire
but a living sea of emerald
around a mighty throne.

I Will Fight

I will fight on my feet
With my arms towards heaven
In joyful surrender.

I will fight on my knees
With my hair on His feet
In the fragrance of worship.

I will fight on my face

Holy Ghost

Holy Ghost, consuming fire,
Burn in me the Lord's desire.
Let this mind be in me too
That was and is in You.

Holy Ghost, a mighty wind,
Refresh the weeping soul that's sinned.

I live To Tell

I live to tell the miracle
Of resurrection power
And Jesus' radiant holy presence
That sanctifies each hour.

I live to tell of Jesus' hands
That bore the nails of grief,

On My Knees

On my knees
I thank you Lord
For keeping me.

In my dreams
I cannot walk
But on my knees;

In my life
I cannot live
Unless I pray.

Knees for praying,
Rocking, swaying;

God, You Are Real

God, I was surrounded by fakes
Flaunting their spirituality
And slurring Your holy Name.

At first they seemed so beautiful,
Flagrantly, irreproachably
Superior to me,

The One Who Fills All In All

The One who fills all in all
Can hardly be contained
In a mere Sunday morning
Ninety minute slot.

Heaven is not just for when we die
But forever - past, present, and future.

Let Faith Grow

Let faith grow
And rise up forever
And spread all around.

Let faith in God
Be real and genuine
Although imperfect.

God let my faith
Grow deeper and stronger
With every day and night.

God's Protection

God stopped a fatal accident
When one child in a full car
Had a premonition and prayed.

God stopped many fatal accidents
For a family who prayed for protection
Every time they travelled.

Eye-Salve From Jesus

It happened a little in childhood
In those old conventional days
When visions were almost unheard of
And regarded with deep distrust.

She blocked it out as far as possible,

Holy Spirit Baptism

We sang around the piano
Hymn after hymn, and I was wrapped
In a warm fuzzy blessed glow.

Every night I poured out grief
To God in the cool night air
And found a blessed comfort and relief.
