Poems and Quotes by Attiyya

Trust

I trust you love me
I trust you won't hurt me
I trust you want my body
I trust you want to use me like a condom
I trust you won't use a one of 'dem
I trust you will leave me dirty

Blame

It's gotta be me.
It's gotta be my fault.
Because I don't see anyone else.

Just For the Night

Liberate my mind
So I can free my soul
His arms are the only ones that keep me warm during the cold
But your arms will suffice-
Because it's temporary- just for the night

Mystery under the Moon

Forget about breath
I don't need that mess
I wanna suffocate
And be with you until death
Ring around our fingers
Ring around our necks
Ring around our hearts
Love in our nest

Cosmic Love

You know my face-
But you don't know my heart.
I'm more than symmetry.
I'm more than nose, lips and eyes
Wrapped in splendor-
My skin is my armor.
My heart is my amour.

A.D.D.

I'm always distracted
Can't focus on one thing
Because my mind's always multi-tasking
Texting and Talking
Painting my nails while Walking
Nothing satisfies me in this life.
Do I hate it?

Wanted

Do I have to commit a crime to feel
Wanted?
To be loved and desired
Wanted?
Do I have to be to root of someones fear
To feel wanted?
Imprisoned in my mind
What does life have in store?

Still an Infant

It took me so long to realize I was different
21 years, and I'm still an infant
Been trying to find my place
Trying to appreciate my race
Lines of worry, lines of fury- the lines are blurry

Sunrise in Harlem

The rays of the days
Creep along the highway
A paved highway of dreams
Or so it seems
We wake up to our nightmares
Which we've labeled reality
Black versus white, life versus strife
