Would I dare?

It must be kept secret deep within my heart
To say it aloud, would make it all to real.
If I were to admit my feelings
Then I'd have to deal with each and every part.

I'd want to hold on for dear life
so you couldn't escape

My heart is not capable of such a risk
It seems an invitation for pain
Or should I close my eyes
and take the dive into the shallow end?

I've been there before and never planned to return
Yet life has a way of forcing your hand.
It's a decision with to much risk
To many shattered hearts would be left in the wake.

It would be selfish to chase an old dream
we are older, and supposed to be wiser
yet why do I even consider such a thing?
