Goodbye

Tiny, almost frail
your body is thin and worn bare
from the pain you're in
I try to make you smile,
I try to make you laugh.
But, its hard for you.
You can't breathe.

16 candles.
All lit on your cake.
You never got to blow them out.
The air wouldn't fill your lungs
The sirens ring in our ears.
They're taking you away.

I think of how you looked,
carrying around your lifeline.
The oxygen pulled behind you.
Anyone would have blamed God.
But not you.
You thanked him.
For each day you were alive.

16 candles.
It's all you lived to see.
We blew them out for you.
As we lowered you into the ground,
and watched God take you.

My tears still fall,
and my heart still grieves.
But I know you are better,
I know He is taking care of you.
I love you.
