Lying In A Manger

Lying in a manger wrapped tightly in swaddling clothes
Lies a precious little newborn sweet and pure as any rose
His parents were of David traveling on to Bethlehem
Staying with the animals having no room in the inn
Above this simple manger shone the brightness of a star
A beacon for the travelers coming westward from a far
These travelers had purpose for golden crowns they wear
To worship God’s Great Sacrifice and present the gifts they bare
Next came a group of shepherds, their flock left for the night
Following advice from angels sent from God’s Own Holy Light
The star stopped over a manger and stayed with a joyous ring
For lying in the manger was Jesus Christ The King

Behind The Poem:

I came up with a couple of poems for the Christmas Season, planning to use one for this year and the other for next year. Well, my writers group didn't want to have one piece for our Christmas devotional. They wanted two. So without even knowing ahead of time, I was all set LOL :)
