I saw, I observed the pain,
I was only 5
But no adult had to explain,
I knew it was for real this time, I knew my life would change.
The infidelities could not go unforgiving,
I saw it with my own two innocent eyes.
No respect, no regard for the children,
Through the teeth, you spoke only lies.
The amount of birthdays you missed,
I lost count after 7, 8, or 9.
Not even a call to see how we’ve been.
College tuition was too high,
and these jobs on the street don’t pay,
where were you when I tried to get by.
Now I collect images every day,
in hopes I could do something I love but still get paid.
