Skipping Stones
I’m sitting here now, at the edge of the surf, watching you from a far.
I’m sitting her now, thinking of you, as I throw ‘em back at the bar.
You’re hundreds of miles away from me,
Yeah, we’re an ocean apart.
So I’ll stand on my side,
I promised that I would not cry,
When you left me, you said sorry,
And now I’m skipping a stone across the sea.
Wondering…
Will it get to you,
Far across the sea?
Will you pick it up?
Will you think of me?
And will you skip it back?
Cause it’s all I’ll ever need.
Will you come back home?
Come here across the sea.
Will you find that stone,
And skip it back to me?
Oh please, oh please come back…
I’m begging you on my knees.
I’m laying her now, under the sun, waves are crashing on the sand.
I’m lying here now, under the moon, howling like a wolf out to the land.
I’m asleep in my bed, and I’m dreaming of you,
Wanting to know if you’re dreaming of me,
To be honest I don’t have a clue.
In my mind I’m with you, wrapped in your arms,
But then I wake up, and the vision is gone.
So I walk down to the beach and I pick up a stone,
Skip it across, as I stand here alone,
Wondering…
Will it get to you?
