My Grendel

This beast I hide from the world
Is longing to get out
Teeth are bared and lips curled
His face a mangled mess
I feel his temper deep within
Filling my entire body
Enraged by the stupidity of men
I tremble with his fury
Inside me, a Grendel of my own
Wishing to break free
Somehow I've always known
That eventually he would
Without him there, would I live?
Could I live?
To me, what does he give?
Without him, what am i?
And yet I dream and hope
That death will come for him
But when it does will I be able to cope
With the loss of a friend?
