borrowed arms

i looked at him, he looked through me,
a hallmark of my misery.
dwelling within the crystalline eyes,
so blue and yielding, and full of lies.
i asked him "why?" he said, "why not?"
should say "goodbye" instead i fought.
i never would have done him harm,
forever held in borrowed arms.
