An Ode to Whitney

PrintPrint

The silence is as loud as the pain is deep

Time stands still as we are besieged by memories

Reminding us that there are things we neither understand or can explain

Expectations, dreams, prayers, and hopes all perish

Times of joy become a thing of the past

As grief takes us on a voyage beyond reality

Lost in our own morality we are faced with the truth

Life is fleeting but precious to each one of us

Just like the memory of those who journey to the end of this life

Behind The Poem:

This poem is a celebration to the life of singer/actress, Whitney Houston.

I wrote this immediately after learning of her death. I wanted to capture my feelings at that moment.

I just hope it is not too dark. Death takes hold of the human experience and forces us to evaluate our own mortality.
