DIE OR YOU

PrintPrint

This poem is about really knowing if someone has your best interest at heart and ultimately being honest with one another.

Poem:

Will you be there for C/ if i couldn’t see the direction i was headed/ if my mortality made me a casualty/ leaving me broke, dejected/ kicked out, evicted/ locked up, arrested/ my signals offline, but my mind is connected/ i’ve already elected to have my past discrepancies corrected/ i never listened to what people had to say or accepted responsibility/ my life is in disarray, this is my current reality/ no stranger to despair, adversity/ change, there’s no guarantee/ but could you still love me for me, and wait patiently for the man who i plan to be/ my windows still open to hope, patient for possibility/ some semblance of stability/ so can you answer me…

“What’ll you do if there comes a day, when i lose my way? What will you do?  Oh i would stay for you, pray for you, if it would help i’d even die for you”

No one wanted to see us together/ in your ear, telling you girl you can do better/ he’ll never amount to nothing/ confused if you stay or forsake my loving/ the nay sayers trying to push our buttons/ i turn a deaf ear to that sort of discussion/ still trying to wake up from this concussion/ you the one i put my trust in/ i’ve never questioned your loyalty/ if my queen leaves it would hurt me royally/ not waiting in vain like Bob Marley/ the caged bird should be set free/ to express herself as she sees fit/ if i’m not in her future scripts, then it’s wise to call it quits/ love has no quick fix/ don’t grow like chia pets/ who knows what comes next/ it’s a game of chance that’s why we place our bets/ but i have one question to put our relationship into context…

“What’ll you do if there comes a day, when i lose my way? What will you do?  Oh i would stay for you, pray for you, if it would help i’d even die for you”

No more secrets/ you wanted to run, i wanted to take baby steps/ we only ran into conflicts/shanking our hearts like convicts/ if your lack of patience admits, it was the reason it did the splits/ like gymnastics/ then the act you put on displayed your theatrics/ take six/ to review the semantics/that in the end, we were hopeless romantics/ flaking like dandruff/ our frequency infrequently lost its band-width/ our Sudarshan chakra erased from the sanskrit/ chanting "OM", for calm since my love is gone, lifted like a fork lift/ i was in the presence of God, pure bliss/ a moment, a season, a lifetime, still a gift/ you’ll still be missed/ but all i wanted to know was this…

“What’ll you do if there comes a day, when i lose my way? What will you do?  Oh i  would stay for you, pray for you, if it would help i’d even die for you”
